Activity Community Environment
Loscoe is a pretty Derbyshire Village set in the borough of Amber Valley, gateway to the Peak District. The Charles Hill Centre will be sited on Flamstead Avenue, bordering the peaceful haven of Red River Nature Reserve and only a two minute walk from the picturesque vistas of Loscoe Dam. Make a visit to the centre, join in the activities and enjoy village hospitality.
Charles Lawley Hill was a local farmer who gifted this land to the council in 1955, keen that the space be used for sports and leisure. A hall was built and stood on this site until 2016 when it was considered beyond repair and demolished. Dedicated local volunteers have stepped forward and campaigned for a new build, leading fundraising initiatives and shaping plans for the fabulous new centre.
Building work commenced in May 2023. Spades and diggers are on-site now! We hope to be opening our doors to local athletes, crafters and students by the end of the year. Charles Hill Centre will host sports, hobbies, social groups, events and education. With football and cricket, yoga and crafts, support groups and lifelong learning, this is a welcoming place for all ages, all abilities and all interests.
At Charles Hill Centre For Community and Sports we're eager to hear your ideas.
Do send your suggestions for activities and events that you'd like to be held on the site.
