Our vision is to bring the community of Loscoe and surrounding areas together by creating spaces for healthy, physical activity and social activities. With choice, motivation and support, Charles Hill Centre will help you enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. Whatever your age and abilities, you'll find something here to spark your interest and develop your skills.
From patio picnics to art and crafts, Charles Hill Centre will offer both indoor and outdoor activities. The venue can be hired for private events such as birthday parties or workplace training days and support groups, plus myriad drop-in coffee mornings and cosy suppers. Open days and evenings. We also plan to host adult education and community events.
We want everyone to access the new Charles Hill Centre. If you're inactive, able-bodied or have disabilities, just get in touch and we'll look at how we can help you to increase your physical activity and mental stimulation whilst making great new friends. There will be an open and light community room with refreshments available. Fancy a cuppa?
We will build new changing rooms to support formal sports use with a key focus on children and youth football and provide strong links to Loscoe primary school. Local talent deserves access to global opportunities.
Charles Hill is set to become 'home' to Loscoe AFC and Heanor Juniors FC. Once complete, around 300 young footballers will be able to enjoy the facilities. Everyone can find inspiration and motivation at Charles Hill.
No one should feel isolated or nervous at joining in. Whatever your interests, we're confident that we will have an activity to match. From Storytime For Toddlers to Older Adult Friendship Groups, all ages having fun.
The vast space at Charles Hill Playing Fields lends itself brilliantly to all manner of open air events. Back in 2012 there was a joyous celebration for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee (see our Gallery page). Vintage markets and fairs, a village fete, horticultural show, literary festival or open-air movies...the possibilities are fantastic! Share your ideas with us. From The Warren Show in the 1970s to The Loscoe Kilties in the 1980s, Loscoe's Got Talent.
Situated right beside the tranquil and charming Red River, we aim to host plenty of activities which blend the two areas together. Christmas wreath making at the Nature Reserve followed by creamy hot chocolate and marshmallows at the centre. Nature photography spotting the flora and fauna, then technical tutorials indoors. Mindfulness walks along the banks of Red River followed by guided meditation in the privacy of the centre. Feel safe. Feel happy.
All our initiatives are geared to promoting a fulfilled and harmonious community with a vast range of intellectual, athletic and creative pursuits right on the doorstep. We're raising aspirations, broadening horizons and providing a springboard to a dynamic future. Making this happen is a collective effort. Huge thanks to our partners and funders - Heanor & Loscoe Town Council, Amber Valley Borough Council and Derbyshire PCC.
